B-Robotics Secures 3 Billion Won Investment from Cheetah Mobile for Global Expansion
Reading Time: 2 minutesB-Robotics, a South Korean serving robot company, has secured a 3 billion won investment from the global mobile app developer Cheetah Mobile.
B-Robotics is a subsidiary of WOOWA Brothers, the operator of South Korea’s leading delivery platform, Baemin. The company launched its comprehensive serving robot rental service in 2019 in Baemin. In February of this year, B-Robotics became an independent subsidiary, supplying over 2,200 serving robots to 1,600 stores and offering serving robot integration solutions.
The flagship product, the Baemin Robot S model, not only provides serving capabilities but also offers additional services such as table order integration and robot control programs, achieving high user satisfaction.
Recent initiatives by B-Robotics include pushing for the domestic production of serving robots and expanding distribution. To achieve this, they are planning internal robot development and broadening distribution channels beyond the restaurant industry to include areas such as screen golf venues, PC rooms, billiard halls, logistics centers, and more. In 2021, they distributed over 100 robots to the catering specialist company Shinwha Food Group and introduced serving robots to Kakao VX Screen Golf, marking a significant expansion.
A representative from Cheetah Mobile stated that they deeply empathized with B-Robotics’ mission to improve life using technology in the service robot market. They also praised the impressive capabilities and passion of B-Robotics’ employees, expressing anticipation for the extensive and systematic customer data and product planning capabilities that B-Robotics possesses.
On the other hand, Cheetah Mobile plans to release practical and effective AI and robot solutions to the market through extensive collaboration between its subsidiary, OrionStar, and B-Robotics, leveraging the recent investment.
Kim Min-soo, the CEO of B-Robotics, stated, “Through this investment, we have laid the groundwork for Baemin Robot to actively pursue domestic production and global expansion.” He expressed the ambition to pioneer the global market, lead the global serving robot market, and elevate industry standards to a higher level through collaboration with Cheetah Mobile’s subsidiary, OrionStar.
