Tokyo Hosts ‘SusHi Tech 2024’ in May to Foster Global Startup Innovation for Sustainable Cities
Reading Time: 2 minutesThe Tokyo Metropolitan Government will host the ‘2024 SusHi Tech Tokyo Global Startup Program‘ from May 15 to 16. “SusHi” stands for Sustainable High, reflecting the conference’s focus on sustainable innovation. This year’s event is set to be significantly larger than the last, with 400 companies from 40 cities exhibiting and over 40,000 expected attendees.
The program’s goal is to create sustainable new value solutions for global urban issues, including demographic shifts, environmental and energy challenges, and aging infrastructure. It will also explore cultural preservation through the integration of advanced technologies and digital expertise.
The agenda includes a variety of key activities such as a panel discussion on ‘Cities of the Future and Innovation’ featuring Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike and Adi Ignatius, editor-in-chief of Harvard Business Review. Other highlights include a pitch contest with 507 companies from 43 countries, an exhibition hall for startups, an investors pavilion, a startup training zone, and a stage for product and solution promotion. The program will also feature speaking sessions and pitch contests, drawing participation from global startups, investors, major companies, and enthusiastic students. Additionally, notable participants include Jen Carter, Google’s Global Technology Officer, and John Roos, founding partner of Geodesic Capital.
The chair of the 2024 SusHi Tech Tokyo Global Startup Program expressed pride in hosting Asia’s largest innovation conference in Tokyo, emphasizing the event’s role in bringing together influential figures from startups, investment spheres, academia, and students worldwide every May to collaborate on innovative solutions for global urban challenges.
Furthermore ‘d・camp’, the Korean Banks Foundation for Young Entrepreneurs, will conduct its May D·DAY as an official side event of ‘SusHi Tech Tokyo’ on May 16. This event, linked with ‘d・camp’s local community program ‘Mock Talk,’ aims to introduce Korean startups looking to enter the Japanese market to the local startup ecosystem.
