VIENCE, a Korean AI-based biomedical image analysis platform company, has secured investment from the ‘CNTTech-DB Dream Big Investment Fund’, a collaboration between CNTTech and DB CAPITAL. The investment amount remains undisclosed.

Originating from a research lab in the Department of Computer Science at Korea University, VIENCE holds extensive research experience and proprietary technology in image processing, artificial intelligence, visualization, and GPU computing.

Leveraging these technologies, VIENCE offers a cloud-based research platform that allows users, even without programming knowledge, to create image data analysis solutions using AI and visualization technologies. This platform supports the management and sharing of large datasets to improve collaborative research efficiency and cost-effectiveness. It also enables users to develop desired solutions through an easy-to-use web-based interface with a no-code programming approach.

Specifically, VIENCE focuses on processing and analyzing large-scale pathological images. It collaborates with renowned institutions, including Korea University Hospital, Seoul National University Hospital, and Boramae Hospital, to develop world-class technologies and solutions. The VIENCE PathoView pathology diagnosis solution, co-developed with Boramae Hospital, utilizes deep learning models to predict the progression rate of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. This solution has demonstrated significant improvements in diagnostic objectivity over traditional methods, as confirmed by a usability evaluation involving six pathologists from Boramae Hospital.

Jeon Hwa-seong, CEO of CNTTech, commented, “As the medical imaging diagnostics and research market is experiencing rapid growth globally, VIENCE enables medical professionals and biomedical researchers, who are not computer specialists, to intuitively and efficiently conduct a complete range of tasks from deep learning-based data preprocessing to high-quality visual analysis within a single integrated system. This capability is expected to significantly expand VIENCE’s role in the medical imaging market.”

Kang Seok-min, Team Leader at DB CAPITAL, added, “Unlike competitors who focus solely on AI-based image processing or provide turnkey solutions, VIENCE not only offers AI image analysis but also a variety of visual analysis methods. It allows users to tailor the system to their specific research processes. We anticipate that this will enable many medical professionals and researchers to conduct their analyses more conveniently.”

Jung Won-ki, Choi Jun-young, and Jeong Hae-jin, co-CEOs of VIENCE, stated, “Through our collaboration with the ‘CNTTech-DB Dream Big Investment Fund,’ we aim to empower more medical professionals and researchers to overcome the challenges of managing large datasets, coding, and inefficient processes. By utilizing VIENCE’s platform, they can harness the latest AI technology for more accurate and convenient image-based research and medical treatments.”
