The Real Group Secures 2 Billion Won Investment for Global Fashion Search Engine
The Real Group, a South Korea-based provider of a global luxury and premium fashion meta-search engine called Realry, recently secured a 2 billion won investment from Horizon Investment and Strong Ventures. Notably, The Real Group had previously attracted pre-Series A funding in February of the prior year, with investors including ZVC, Goodwater Capital, and Strong Ventures.
Expanding its reach, The Real Group acquired the Austrian sneaker search engine Sneakers123 in November 2023, thereby entering the sneaker market. Currently, the company operates its services primarily in the United States, Canada, Japan, Australia, and the United Kingdom, with plans to accelerate its global market entry and growth in 2024.
A representative from The Real Group expressed, “From the early stages of our business, we drew inspiration from the business models of global travel search engines like Kayak.com and Skyscanner. Our goal is to become the go-to First-Destination service that users visit before making online purchases of premium fashion and sneakers.”
According to a 2023 report by Bain & Company, the global luxury market is expected to grow 2.5 times from 2020 to 2030, reaching approximately $577 billion to $621 billion. The report also predicts that by 2030, Generation Z will account for 25-30% of luxury market purchases, while Millennials will represent 50-55%.
The Real Group’s co-founders, CEO Ahn Sung-jun and CTO Lee Soo-chan, have a track record of successful ventures, including the sale of Super Rookie, South Korea’s largest foreign entry-level and intern hiring platform, to Drama & Company (Remember), and a merger with VentiT, Singapore’s largest beauty service.
