Since its Pre-Series A funding round in August 2020, which raised KRW 3.5 billion, NARA SPACE has amassed a total of KRW 33.5 billion in investments. The company plans to use this latest influx of capital to accelerate the development of a methane gas monitoring satellite and expand its satellite constellation. Furthermore, NARA SPACE is preparing for a potential initial public offering (IPO) on the KOSDAQ by the end of this year.

Last November, NARA SPACE made headlines by successfully launching ‘Observer 1A’, South Korea’s first commercial micro Earth observation satellite. Launched aboard SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket, Observer 1A has been actively capturing images of major cities around the world, including Busan, from its orbit in low Earth.

CEO Jae-Pil Park expressed enthusiasm about the firm’s prospects, stating, “With the stable attraction of follow-on investments, we are now poised to launch our next satellite, Observer 1B, and establish a robust system for the mass production and operation of satellites.”

Over the next five years, NARA SPACE aims to deploy a fleet of around 100 microsatellites to offer real-time monitoring services for key global cities. The company is also stepping up efforts to develop satellites for environmental missions. In collaboration with Seoul National University’s Climate Lab, the Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute, and Poland’s Scanway Space, NARA SPACE has been advancing the ‘Narsha Project’, focused on developing a microsatellite for methane gas monitoring. The project recently completed a successful System Requirements Review (SRR) this month and is targeting a launch in the latter half of 2026.
