The Gyeonggi Creative Economy Innovation Center in Korea (hereafter referred to as Gyeonggi CCEI) announced on January 31st that four companies, previously selected for the 2023 Startup Leap Package, have been named finalists in the 2024 Edison Awards.

Named in honor of the inventor Thomas Edison, the Edison Awards are the most prestigious invention accolades in the United States. The gold, silver, and bronze winners will be announced for the finalists of the 2024 Edison Awards on April 18, 2024 (U.S. local time).

In 2023, Gyeonggi CCEI selected 37 companies with exceptional global competitiveness in terms of business viability, marketability, and technological innovation through the Startup Leap Package support program. The center provided these companies with business development support and customized acceleration.

Particularly, the center assisted companies aspiring to enter the global market through the “Global Star Venture Program.” This program included services such as 1:1 matching with professional consultants, development of exhibition strategies, and enhancement of video and image submission materials. As a result, following the selection of two companies, MedithinkQ and AnOpen, last year from a group of 49, this year saw four out of 37 companies being chosen.

The companies selected as finalists for the 2024 Edison Awards are Cellico, CP6, Codepresso, and SOULX.

Cellico, a social venture, is working on developing vision correction devices for patients with low vision conditions such as macular degeneration, retinitis pigmentosa, glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy. The company has achieved this through its augmented reality-based smart glasses, ‘EyeCane’. After winning in three categories at the 2024 CES Innovation Awards, Cellico has now been selected as a finalist for the 2024 Edison Awards.

CP6, a company specializing in ‘Autonomous Driving Sensor Data Analysis Technology’, uses this technology for accident prevention and traffic accident analysis. Their recently unveiled ‘ACAT (Automated-driving Car Accident-analysis Tool)’ has been recognized for its innovative technology, winning both the CES Innovation Award and the Edison Award. Following this CES, CP6 is engaged in ongoing investment and collaboration discussions with various domestic and international conglomerates.

SOULX, an AI-powered XR content production company, introduced ‘Studio JAM’, a solution optimized for the current trend of rapidly produced and consumed short-form media content. This solution significantly reduces the time and cost of producing video content and offers new possibilities for expanding the creator ecosystem. At this year’s CES, SOULX also showcased another solution, ‘XROOM’, and is currently discussing technology collaborations and educational programs with companies in the USA, India, and Qatar.

Codepresso’ offers a cloud-based HR platform for evaluating, educating, and managing the competencies of developers. It provides detailed job competency assessments for various digital technologies in an environment that closely resembles real development settings. Prior to receiving the Edison Award, the platform had already gained recognition from over 50 domestic government agencies and conglomerates. In March, discussions are underway to launch this global digital competency management platform in various countries, including the UK, Luxembourg, Brazil, Uruguay, and Vietnam.

Gyeonggi CCEI commented, “The outstanding achievements of our companies in this globally prestigious competition have reaffirmed their technological capabilities and global competitiveness. Our center is committed to providing extensive support to help incubated companies excel on the world stage, through various initiatives like the Startup Leap Package.”
