Chequer, a South Korean cloud security solution developer, has secured strategic investments from Salesforce Ventures and Z Venture Capital (ZVC). Concurrently, Chequer has formed local partnerships to enter the Japanese market, alongside attracting foreign investments.

Chequer expressed, “This investment reflects a positive assessment of our growth potential and the technology behind our self-developed cloud-based security solution, tailored to domestic security policies and regulations exceeding international standards.” The total investment in Chequer now stands at KRW 33.2 billion (USD 24.82 million).

As the creator of ‘QueryPie,’ a data and system access control solution, Chequer has been working towards international market entry from its early days. The focus has been on security solutions compliant with global companies’ regulations in a cloud-native environment. In addition to foreign investments, Chequer has forged partnerships for a local entry into the Japanese market, preparing for market entry, including technology verification (PoC) with leading Japanese companies.

CEO Hwang In-seo expressed optimism, stating, “Embarking on the Japanese market entry with influential partners like Salesforce Ventures and ZVC, who hold significant sway in the global and Japanese IT markets, is highly meaningful. Collaborating with investment partners who resonate with QueryPie’s vision for providing substantial alternatives in digital transformation and cybersecurity in Japan adds further significance.”

With existing global-level security certifications and J-Sox certification equivalent to Japan’s IT General Control, Chequer plans to introduce a zero-trust security model and cloud SaaS-based access control solutions applicable to Japanese companies. The company aims to strengthen its cybersecurity and corporate compliance competitiveness in the Japanese market.
