MSS and KISED, “Korean Startups Achieve Significant Milestones at VIVA TECH 2024”
Reading Time: 2 minutesFrom May 22 to May 25, South Korea’s Ministry of SMEs and Startups (MSS) and the Korea Institute of Startup & Entrepreneurship Development (KISED) hosted the K-STARTUP pavilion at VIVA TECH 2024 in Paris, France, achieving notable success. VIVA Technology, a premier European startup exhibition, featured keynotes from prominent figures including French President Emmanuel Macron, Tesla CEO Elon Musk, and Alibaba founder Jack Ma. The event attracted over 165,000 attendees from more than 160 countries and showcased over 13,000 startups.

This year’s VIVA Tech included diverse programs such as AI, climate change, and deep tech conferences, alongside pitching competitions and networking events with leading global companies. The K-STARTUP pavilion featured 17 promising startups from various industries. Notably, MarinaChain analyzes carbon emission data in the maritime logistics industry using AI, and Pixelity offers gaming software and immersive content utilizing XR technology.
Throughout the four-day exhibition, the startups in the K-STARTUP pavilion achieved significant results, including the signing of 11 MOUs, one PoC, and one LOI. IPIN LABS, which provides a smart factory asset management platform based on AI indoor positioning technology, signed a PoC agreement with Bouygues Telecom, one of France’s leading telecommunications companies, to test its technology with French clients. Additionally, MarinaChain signed an MOU with the Saudi logistics company SENT to develop AI data on carbon footprints in Saudi Arabia’s shipping and logistics industries and to collaborate with government agencies. Onout, which uses technology to identify styles in fashion creator videos, making it easier for viewers to shop for similar products, signed an LOI with India’s Moksha Media Group to expand market opportunities in Indonesia and Singapore.

Acting Director Choi Yeol-soo of KISED highlighted the global recognition of Korean companies at Europe’s largest exhibition, VIVA Tech, and affirmed a commitment to continue supporting outstanding startups in entering global markets.
