DeepSmartech Secures 4.3 Billion KRW in Pre-Series A Funding for Nano-Coating Tech
Reading Time: < 1 minuteDeepSmartech, a Korean startup specializing in polymer nano-coating technology, has secured 4.3 billion KRW in pre-Series A funding from Magna Investment, GS Ventures, Capstone Partners, D.Camp, and BigBang Angels.
The company is developing innovative polymer nano-coating technologies with various functionalities such as water repellency, hydrophilicity, and antiviral properties, utilizing a unique polymer thin-film deposition technology that can be applied at room temperature. This technology serves as a foundational solution for various applications requiring coatings, including EV battery separators, food packaging, and Gore-Tex.
DeepSmartech has garnered recognition for its technological excellence, achieving notable milestones such as winning the ‘D.Camp D-Day‘ competition hosted by the Bank Foundation for Young Entrepreneurs, being selected for the DeepTech TIPS program by the Korea Technology and Information Promotion Agency for SMEs(TIPA), and being chosen for the ‘Battery Challenge 2022’ by LG Energy Solution.
Kim Tae-hyun, a partner at BigBang Angels, who has consistently invested in DeepSmartech from seed funding to pre-Series A, stated, “Since its founding in August 2022, DeepSmartech has continuously delivered results. This pre-Series A funding is a testament to these achievements and will serve as a significant turning point for the company’s future growth.”
Ho-yeon Kim, CEO of DeepSmartech, commented, “With the accomplishments to date and the 4.3 billion KRW from the pre-Series A funding, we will establish research infrastructure, finalize plans for the mass production of silicon anode materials, and pursue concrete collaborations such as joint development with large enterprises.”
