Sarsat is a Saudi Arabian space startup that specializes in Earth Observation (EO) using small satellites. Utilizing SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) technology, Sarsat aims to become the first commercial air observation provider in the Middle East. They provide data to a variety of sectors to help decision makers.

Sarsat’s key products include a small, cost-effective, high-resolution microsatellite called ‘Arab Eye’. However, beyond simply providing images, a second product called ‘Earth Life’ analyzes air observation data such as synthetic images and optical images and provides information contained therein. They have the ability to monitor the Earth at any time using SAR technology.

Meanwhile, Sarsat has received its first order from an Indian company to build five payload satellites and has secured funding from governments, academia and advocates.

Sarsat’s motivation for participating in ComeUp 2023 is to have the opportunity to meet new companies in South Korea and see their ideas and ways of thinking. Sarsat is looking forward to meeting new investors through collaboration with Korea’s startup ecosystem.

Q1. Please introduce your company and your product.

We are a space startup and we do the Earth Observation (EO) with small satellites using a technology called SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar). Our aim is to be the first commercial air observation supply company in the Middle East. We provide data for many sectors to help decision makers.

Q2. What are the key strengths of your product or service?

First, a hardware called ‘Arabia Eye’. It is a small satellite, cost effective, high resolution. However, we’re not just providing images; we are providing for our second product called ‘Earth Life’. Earth Life is for decision-making. This platform will analyze the air observation data such as synthetic image and also optical image to provide that information inside the data. This is our key strength. In fact, people are not just looking for data, people are looking for information inside the data. Also, we are using SAR technology which works like an x-ray. It uses radiation which monitors the Earth anytime.

Q3. What have been your achievements so far?

First, we received our first purchase from an Indian company to build 5 payload satellites. (In fact, in order to go to space, we have to fly our satellites on Earth to make sure they work safely.)

Second, we received funds from the government, academies and supporters.

Q4. What motivated you to participate in ComeUp 2023?

We want to meet new companies in South Korea, see their minds and their way of thinking.

Q5. What type of collaboration do you anticipate with the South Korean startup ecosystem?

We hope we can meet new investors.
