Hopae, a South Korean cybersecurity startup specializing in building digital identity authentication infrastructure using blockchain technology, has secured pre-seed investment from 500 Global. The exact amount of investment remains undisclosed.
In the midst of the escalating digitization of information worldwide, emphasizing the growing significance of information security, Hopae offers solutions to securely manage and safeguard users’ digital identities. It provides the Furo LADS service, which monitors user login information in real-time to detect and respond to unusual activities, along with the Furo IAM service, ensuring the safe management and authentication of users’ digital identities.
At present, Hopae manages over 120,000 users across more than 560 projects through its solutions. Since February 2023, it has joined as the inaugural Asian founding member of the Open Wallet Foundation, alongside notable institutions like Google and Microsoft, actively participating in open-source initiatives.
Min Kim, general partner of 500 Global, emphasized that Hopae offers a fresh approach to tackling reliability and interoperability concerns in the global identity system, leveraging its proprietary blockchain technology. He noted Hopae’s capability to establish a digital authentication environment aligned with eIDAS2, a framework gaining significant traction in the global digital identity market.
CEO Shim Jae-hoon unveiled Hopae’s ultimate ambition: “to create a ‘global identity system’ accessible from anywhere worldwide, unlocking a future where identity verification is seamlessly achievable across the globe.”
