SOPOONG VENTURES Joins Funding for Israel-Based AI Foodtech Company BioRaptor
Reading Time: 2 minutesKorean investment firm SOPOONG VENTURES has invested in the Israel-based AI company BioRaptor, which provides innovative solutions to streamline development processes for foodtech companies focused on alternative proteins. In October 2022, BioRaptor raised a $3 million seed round from LOOL ventures, CPT Capital, and Coller Capital. This year, it secured additional funding from SOPOONG VENTURES and Good Startup.
BioRaptor specializes in offering AI-driven insights for research processes in foodtech, biopharmaceuticals, and biotechnology. The company was co-founded by Ori Zakin, an engineer with expertise in cybersecurity, networking, and healthcare, and Yaron David, a software developer and neuroscientist with experience in developing data platforms. Their leadership is advancing the innovation of product development and production processes in the foodtech industry through AI.
The company’s technology centralizes and collects all experimental data in real-time, enabling effective data modeling that quickly validates hypotheses. This capability supports the efficient development and scaling of everything from alternative protein foods to new biopharmaceuticals.
BioRaptor has also been recognized for its technological prowess through a partnership with Remilk, a leading alternative dairy startup with the world’s largest precision fermentation facility. Originating in Israel, Remilk produces milk protein through advanced cultivation technologies without the use of dairy cows.
Jo Yoon-min, a partner at SOPOONG Ventures, commented, “We have been keenly observing BioRaptor’s potential and market leadership in integrating AI technology within the foodtech sector. Moreover, as the alternative food market expands, BioRaptor’s AI solutions in research processes are poised to have a significant impact on the entire alternative protein market, enabling more rapid scalability,” highlighting the reasons for their investment.
