Polaris3D Secures 15 Billion KRW for Global Expansion of AI Autonomous Robots
Reading Time: 2 minutesPolaris3D, a South Korea-based autonomous robot manufacturing company, has secured 15 billion KRW (approximately 11.5 million USD) in Series B funding.
This investment round was co-led by Hyundai Venture Investment and Korea Asset Investment Securities, with additional participation from existing investors Smilegate Investment and HI Investment Partners. New investors included Korea Credit Guarantee Fund(KODIT), Evergreen Investment Partners, JX Partners, Kingo Investment Partners, and JB Investment. With this latest funding, Polaris3D’s total raised capital has now exceeded 21 billion KRW.
Founded in 2018, Polaris3D has applied its proprietary autonomous driving technology to commercial robots. The company’s R&D team, which consists of about 30 members, is led by seven engineers with master’s and doctoral degrees from the Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH). This team is directly involved in developing their solutions.
Polaris3D holds 21 related patents and is expanding its AI autonomous robot platform, centered around its proprietary autonomous driving solution ‘KEPLER,’ which was developed without relying on open-source software. This platform includes serving robots, delivery robots, and Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMR) for logistics.
To address the recent concerns about lithium battery fires, Polaris3D has introduced safe LFP batteries, used in Tesla vehicles, in its serving robot ‘ereon’ for the first time in South Korea. Additionally, to overcome the severe vibration issues often associated with existing serving robots, the company has implemented an AI vibration control suspension that learns the floor surface for smoother operation. These efforts are part of their ongoing commitment to developing high-quality service robots.
Inbeom Kwak, CEO of Polaris3D, stated, “Our successful fundraising was made possible by the recognition of our AI autonomous robot platform’s scalability, based on our core autonomous driving solution ‘KEPLER.’ This platform includes serving robots, delivery robots, and AMR logistics robots.”
He further shared, “As a company gaining attention as a counter to the Chinese robots that occupy over 80% of the domestic service robot market, we aim to leverage our robust technological foundation. This year, we plan to export our products extensively to various countries, including the USA, Canada, Brazil in North and South America, India, Indonesia, Vietnam in Southeast Asia, as well as Hungary, Uzbekistan, and other European countries.”
