Korean startup CHEQUER, the developer of the cloud data protection platform ‘QueryPie,’ has secured strategic investment from Shinhan Venture Investment. This latest round brings CHEQUER’s total accumulated investment to 38 billion KRW. Following strategic investments from Salesforce Ventures and Japan’s Z Venture Capital in March, CHEQUER plans to accelerate its expansion into the Japanese market with the support of Shinhan Venture Investment, which actively invests in tech companies in both Korea and Japan.

CHEQUER’s self-developed cloud security solution, ‘QueryPie,’ helps enterprises manage their data and IT assets from a single platform. The core of QueryPie lies in providing visibility and ensuring compliance with security and regulatory requirements. Prestigious companies such as Toss (Viva Republica), Shinhan, and LG Uplus have adopted QueryPie. Additionally, CHEQUER has launched the ‘QueryPie Japan’ office this month at the K-Startup Center (KSC Tokyo) located in Minato City, Tokyo, to drive its Japanese business expansion. KSC Tokyo, in collaboration with the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, supports the smooth entry of competitive domestic startups into Japan by providing office space, facilitating local investment, and offering networking activities.

Jinsu Lee, the head of global business at Shinhan Venture Investment who led this investment, stated, “CHEQUER’s cloud-based security solution technology is optimized for security policies and regulations that exceed global standards, giving it a competitive edge in the international market. Particularly in Japan, where cloud adoption is rapidly growing, there are high expectations for CHEQUER as a key technology provider essential for Japan’s digital transformation. Shinhan Venture Investment will continue to identify and invest in promising Korean startups, serving as a bridgehead for their entry into the Japanese market.”

Inseo Hwang, CEO of CHEQUER, remarked, “We are encouraged to advance our business in Japan with Shinhan Venture Investment, which has a deep understanding of both the Korean and Japanese markets, as well as Salesforce Ventures and ZVC. This year, we aim to expand our market reach into the public, financial, and enterprise sectors, while in Japan, we plan to develop practical customer use cases in collaboration with major partners.”
