DCamp hosts global demo day… Function12 wins Dcamp award

D-Camp, operated by the South Korea-based Banks Foundation for Young Entrepreneurs, announced today that Function12 won the D-Camp Award and Deconstruct Robotics won the Global Award at the D-Day X Global League. 

The D-Day Global League was organized to help Korean startups go overseas and overseas startups settle in Korea.

D-Camp is building global partnerships in business benefits, office space, and investment to attract innovative overseas startups to Korea. Global partners such as OASIS, a global startup immigration center, and Singapore’s leading startup support agency, the Infocomm and Media Development Authority (IMDA), Cento Ventures, and Golden Gate Ventures were invited to participate in the February D-day. 

More than 120 companies applied for the eight spots in the program, resulting in a 15-to-1 competition ratio. 

Function12, which won the D-Camp Award, is a subscription software-as-a-service (SaaS) that automates the process of translating UI/UX design into code. According to the company, in real-world testing with a third-year front-end developer, it reduced development time to less than 5 percent by automating design analysis and interpretation into code. 

Deconstruct Robotics, which won the Global Award, is a Singaporean company that developed d.ASH pack, a SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) solution that enables mobile robots such as autonomous robots, drones, and autonomous vehicles to recognize their location and collect information about their surroundings. Mobile robots equipped with d.ASH pack can collect real-time environmental information and 3D mapping in a cloud environment to optimize movement in various industrial environments. 

Signature Label is a company that provides distribution, PB development, sales, and incubation for K-brand overseas distribution strategies and resources, targeting Southeast Asian markets where the Korean Wave is strong. It connects local trusted partners and helps them develop marketing, distribution strategies, pricing policies, etc. with local partners. In the future, the company plans to expand its business to the entire Southeast Asian region, including the Vietnamese and Indonesian markets, as well as the Japanese market. 

Piero Company operates PhoneGo, an online-to-offline (O2O) platform that provides smart device repair, sales, purchase, and rental services. Piero Company has applied for a patent for refurbishing smart devices that can earn carbon credits, and plans to enter the carbon credit trading market by raising a Pre-seriesA funding in the first half of this year. 

Decoman is a one-stop online to offline (O2O) platform focused on remodeling that algorithmically recommends suitable professionals to consumers, and enables them to purchase materials and complete construction in one step, saving an average of 15% compared to traditional remodeling. It currently accounts for 80% of the traffic in Hong Kong’s online remodeling platform market and is planning to enter the Korean market this year. 

Japan-based Liveraware has independently developed a small 20-centimeter diameter drone that can inspect narrow spaces such as inside ceilings and pipes that are difficult for humans to enter, and provides rental services mainly to the construction and power industries. The company has also developed software for 3D and point clouding of acquired data, and its customers include JR East and TEPCO. 

Ollang is a service platform that provides subtitling or dubbing services for video and audio materials. It works in more than 50 languages, and unlike other competing services, it uses AI-based automation systems and human translation experts to ensure high-quality content translation. Ollang currently has over 1100 professional translators under contract. 

AM Management develops a decentralized trading subscription platform, Quantnow, whose main feature is that it uses blockchain technology to eliminate the need for centralized control during the deposit and withdrawal process. This prevents the risk of losses due to operational issues when using existing centralized asset platforms.

Prior to D-Day, a startup IR pitching event, D-Camp organized a “‘Global Meetup’ to invite foreign (pre-)entrepreneurs to meet with stakeholders in the Korean startup ecosystem. OASIS (Overall Assistance for Start-up Immigration System), a government-affiliated organization that recently moved into Frontone, highlighted ways to obtain a technology start-up visa (D-8-2), start-up preparation visa (D-10-2), and trade visa (D-9-1) in conjunction with the D-Camp project.
