KISED partners with U.S. Embassy to help K-Startups enter US market
Reading Time: 2 minutesKorea Institute of Startup & Entrepreneurship Development (KISED) announced today that it participated in Select Tech Korea 2023, a startup pitching competition, as a sponsor alongside the U.S. Embassy in Seoul, and selected companies to participate in the Select USA Investment Summit 2023, which is scheduled to be held in Washington, D.C., this May.
The SelectUSA Investment Summit is an annual event organized by the U.S. Department of Commerce to promote foreign direct investment and attract top companies to the United States. The event, which began in 2013 and is now in its 11th year, has grown in size every year and is expected to attract more than 1,400 companies from more than 70 countries in 2022, making it an active business exchange event.
Held at Google Startup Campus in Seoul, the pitch competition was held to select Korean companies to participate in the SelectUSA Investment Summit, and was attended by U.S. Ambassador Philip Goldberg and representatives from United Airlines.
Among the six finalists, EVAR, a company with electric vehicle charging technology and autonomous driving technology, won the pitch competition.
KISED provided a mentoring program to PieQuant, which was selected as a representative company of Korea in 2022, to help them achieve the finalist in the Asia-Pacific category at the Select USA Investment Summit 2022.
“Following the Korea-U.S. Startup Summit and CES, this pitching competition is an opportunity to showcase Korea’s technological prowess to the U.S. and global markets,” said Kim Yong-moon, head of the KISED. “We will continue to expand our partnerships with countries around the world to help promising Korean startups successfully enter the global market.”
