FarmyirehSe Secures Seed Funding to Lead Sustainable Indoor Farming with Digital Breeding
Reading Time: < 1 minuteKorean startup FarmyirehSe, specializing in developing functional varieties for indoor farming and providing digital solutions, has secured seed investment from Seoul Techno Holdings. This investment will be utilized to advance breeding technology, overcoming limitations in conventional smart farming.
FarmyirehSe focuses on digital breeding technology developed at Seoul National University, which replaces core processes of traditional breeding with big data-driven artificial intelligence. Professor Kang Byung-cheol, the startup’s founder and CTO, combines plant molecular markers, analytical technology, and AI to expedite and precisely breed new varieties.
Currently, FarmyirehSe is concentrating on efficient production in smart farms, particularly for strawberries and peppers. Through the success of their “digital breeding” technology, the startup aims to meet agricultural market demands by developing various functional varieties optimized for cultivation in smart and indoor farms.
The varieties developed based on breeding data will be accompanied by the development of smart indoor production system modules needed for optimal growth environments.
Richard Kang, CEO of FarmyirehSe, expressed the company’s commitment to becoming a global leader in realizing sustainable indoor farming, adapting to rapidly changing climates and supply chain uncertainties.
A representative from Seoul Techno Holdings highlighted FarmyirehSe’s impressive achievement in constructing a digital breeding platform, leveraging high-quality breeding data accumulated through Seoul National University’s research. This platform allows efficient development of high-performance products in various domestic and international cultivation environments, offering practical digital transformation in terms of time and cost efficiency.
