Proxi Healthcare Raises funding for AC Hygiene System using Bioelectric Current

Proxi Healthcare, a South Korean company specializing in microcurrent technologies to combat pollution, secured a spot in the Scaleup TIPS program with an investment from BSK Investment.

Under Scaleup TIPS, chosen companies receiving over 1 billion KRW investments from venture capitalists get government support for innovative R&D projects. Proxi Healthcare was selected for its project developing an automated air conditioning system hygiene management system. This project employs a microbial biofilm removal solution using bioelectric current.

Air conditioning units, regulating heat in narrow spaces where hot and cold components coexist, maintain high humidity. This creates an optimal breeding ground for airborne microorganisms, fostering microbial biofilm growth inside the air conditioner after about a day.

Biofilms within the air conditioner become a direct source of bacterial transmission to vehicle passengers, leading to respiratory issues and hygiene concerns. The global air conditioning market is valued at 68 trillion KRW, with the market for managing air conditioners alone nearing 18 trillion KRW.

Proxi Healthcare, a deep tech company with over 138 intellectual property rights, has attracted a cumulative investment of 14.2 billion KRW. Moreover, the company has obtained certifications from the U.S. FDA, FCC, European CE, and Japan. Proxi Healthcare made its debut by launching a microcurrent toothbrush in the dental field, achieving a cumulative revenue of 9 billion KRW.

Young-wook Kim, CEO of Proxi Healthcare, expressed the company’s aim to extend the project to hygiene management systems for air conditioning in buildings and home appliances, alongside vehicles, upon successful completion. Plans for sales and global market entry have already been strategized post-project completion.
