TheVentures Backs Reppley and At for AI-Driven Conversation and Work Solutions
Reading Time: 2 minutesThe Korean investment firm TheVentures has invested in the AI startups Reppley and At. Reppley specializes in AI technology for everyday conversations and operates an AI avatar service under the same name. It creates chatbots that can emulate everyday conversations based on historical KakaoTalk messages, allowing these chatbots to reflect the conversational style and content of users, thus enabling a quick bond between the AI avatar and the user.
Using Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) technology, Reppley’s AI avatars can search through learned data to generate responses that are appropriate for the context, offering users the ability to further train the chatbots. Woo Jong-ha, CEO of Reppley, says, “By learning from KakaoTalk chats to create and educate AI avatars, Reppley allows users to personalize their chatbots. Our vision is to develop AI that bridges the gap between people.”
Meanwhile, At is working on AI agents designed to support workplace tasks. With the advancement of LLM AI, roles such as customer support and administrative tasks are increasingly being automated. At, under the leadership of CEO Kim Hyo-jun, is developing an AI project manager named ‘Ace,’ which can query team members about the status of tasks and automatically document this information in collaborative tools. “Our initial focus is on an AI PM that autonomously understands and documents work contexts to address team communication challenges. From there, we aim to develop a suite of AI-powered roles, including developers and designers, capable of autonomously performing tasks,” says Kim Hyo-jun.
TheVentures explained their investment decision, noting, “The two teams, though working in different areas of everyday life and work with their developments in daily conversation AI and AI PM, share a common background of founders with extensive experience in AI development and operations. We were persuaded by their technical expertise, potential, and the clear visions they presented for future applications of their technologies.”
Additionally, they stated, “The proliferation of AI represents an irreversible trend, with the prominence of related companies increasingly evident across the industry. This has led TheVentures to keenly observe and invest in AI enterprises.”
