K-Global Cluster 2023 Unveils Cutting-edge Tech Innovations and International Collaborations

The Ministry of SMEs and Startups (MSS) recently hosted the “K-Global Cluster 2023” event at Seoul’s S Factory in Seongsu-dong. This initiative aimed to spotlight technological innovations within the regulation-free special zone, evolving from the Regulation-Free Special Zone Challenge. Emphasizing global cooperation, K-Global Cluster 2023 coincided with COMEUP 2023 at Dongdaemun Design Plaza.
During the event, MSS signed MOUs with international innovation clusters like France’s Cosmetic Valley and Japan’s Shonan I-Park. Conferences on Korea-France cosmetics and Korea-Japan advanced bio cooperation were organized. Notably, L’Oréal Group introduced its global open innovation program, “Big Bang,” to the Korean market.
The participation of 75 companies and research institutes showcased innovations in future mobility, autonomous driving, health, and future energy. Thematic zones included bio and cosmetics, featuring 42 tenant companies on the third floor and 33 on the first floor.
Special activities included the daily “Drone Clash” for children and youth visitors, alongside seminars discussing international joint R&D strategies and legal issues faced by bio companies. Noteworthy was the discussion on the achievements and future plans of “Startup Autobahn Korea,” an open innovation program by Mercedes-Benz Germany. The “K-Global Cluster 2023” was open to the public, providing a shuttle bus service to Dongdaemun Design Plaza, the venue for COMEUP 2023.
