SUGAR Pick Secures Seed Funding from HEXAGON Ventures for Innovative Cohort Learning

Reading Time: 2 minutes

SUGAR Pick, a cohort learning service startup that conducts hobby and job training through collaboration projects with global mentors and sellers, has raised seed funding from HEXAGON Ventures. The amount is undisclosed.

SUGAR Pick is a project-based educational service startup that breaks away from conventional one-way education. It plans specific cohort projects with global experts, communicates in real time using online work tools, and generates meaningful project outcomes.

A representative from SUGAR Pick stated, “With this investment, we aim to carry out API partnership work and secure global mentors in preparation for the official service launch in the second half of the year.”

Kim Jae-wook, CEO of HEXAGON Ventures, who led the investment, said, “In the post-COVID era, as the VOD job training market has significantly contracted, there’s a need for the next edutech model. We decided to invest, believing that a model where students with common interests collaborate online with global leaders in their field to undertake practical projects could be an excellent educational model, capturing both fun and skill development.”

He continued, “This investment was decided before the company’s incorporation, and there are plans to increase investment in the very early building stages in the future.”
Last year, SUGAR Pick was incubated by the Jeonnam Creative Economy Innovation Center through the Preliminary Entrepreneurship Package and proceeded with its business. In its beta service, SUGAR Pick introduced a service that planned and conducted three-month projects in collaboration with current employees of the global theme park company D, a top marketer from the number one advertising company in the U.S., an investment manager from America’s leading music business company W, and an Indian yoga influencer.
