Naver Cloud Backs Persona AI: Advancing Korea’s AI Contact Center Frontier

Korea-based AI contact center developer, Persona AI, has secured an investment from Naver Cloud, with the exact amount remaining undisclosed. 

Renowned for introducing the country’s inaugural subscription-based AI contact center (AICC) in 2021, Persona AI incorporates AI technologies like chatbots, callbots, and addressbots into customer touchpoints such as call centers. With versatile applications across various industries and business scales, Persona AI holds significant growth potential. According to Allied Market Research, the Korean AICC market is projected to reach $350 million by 2030.

Having entered the AICC market early, Persona AI has garnered substantial references in the finance sector and refined its core technologies. Key features include Natural Language Generation (NLG) technology, capable of automatically generating over 100,000 AI training data in a short span, and Natural Language Processing (NLP) technology, achieving 100% recognition in the Korean language. 

Naver Cloud, recognizing Persona AI’s potential and growth in the AICC market driven by its foundational technologies, has decided to invest. Last year, Naver Cloud unveiled the significant AI, ‘HyperCLOVA X,’ and, in addition to implementing AI in core services like search and advertising, collaborates across various industries to establish AI leadership. The collaboration with Persona AI is expected to bolster Naver Cloud’s AI capabilities and contribute to expanding the domestic AI ecosystem.

This investment marks a crucial opportunity for Persona AI to elevate its AICC expertise and solidify its market dominance. Beyond the finance sector, Persona AI aims to actively broaden its AICC business to diverse industries, including shopping, healthcare, and rentals, targeting those undergoing digital transformation in customer engagement.

Persona AI had previously attracted investments from Hyosung Ventures and SK Telecom in June and August last year, respectively. The company also signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Microsoft for AI service and business development using Azure OpenAI Service. 

Persona AI’s CEO, Yoo Seung-jae, emphasized the significance of Naver Cloud’s investment, acknowledging Persona AI’s achievements and potential in the AICC business, expressing a commitment to lead AICC market development and create user-friendly AI services for everyone.
