Korean startup Paradigm Shift, which operates “Heroines,” an exercise diary platform for mothers, has secured KRW 400 million in seed bridge funding from BASS Investment and Seoul Techno Holdings. This funding increases the total capital raised to KRW 800 million.

Heroines is an apptech-style social media where mothers can post their exercise diaries, encourage each other, and earn rewards. Paradigm Shift launched Heroines based on the belief that motivational support, tailored to the psychological traits of mothers, would be highly effective.

The concept of “motivation through support” has gained traction, leading to Heroines’ official launch in April last year. The platform now has over 100,000 active users and is rapidly growing in revenue, with 500,000 exercise diary entries and 5 million supportive comments each month.

Heroines aims to evolve into a key advertising and commerce platform within the burgeoning health supplement market, especially as the global population ages.

Founded by former members of the team behind the professional app Remember, Paradigm Shift is known for its expertise in social media development and houses a skilled development team with experience in health-related platforms.

Yoon-ho Shin, CEO of BASS Investment, explained his investment rationale: “I’ve watched Paradigm Shift’s commitment to profoundly impacting middle-aged female users, and I’m excited about the potential for various business developments in the future.”

Seung-hwan Mok, CEO of Seoul Techno Holdings, noted, “While societal issues such as diversification and aging are intensifying, there’s a shortage of services catering to the middle-aged demographic. We are enthusiastic about Heroines’ efforts to carve out a community for middle-aged women.”

Yoon-sun Nam, CEO of Paradigm Shift, remarked, “Even in tough market conditions, we’ve been acknowledged for our deep customer understanding and rapid problem-solving skills. This investment will help us develop into the dominant platform for mothers to discuss health issues.”
