Korean Hair Care Brand Narka Secures Pre-Series A Funding to Target Asian Market

Uncmhm, the operator of the Korean hair care brand ‘Narka,’ has secured pre-Series A funding from existing investors BASS Investment and Mashup Ventures. Founded by Choi Da-ye, co-founder of the cosmetics brand ‘hince,’ which was acquired by LG Household & HealthCare, Uncmhm launched the hair care brand ‘Narka’ in August 2023. Narka specializes in repairing damaged hair at the molecular level and achieved impressive sales, selling out its initial stock within two months of its launch. The brand has maintained strong sales momentum, driven by word-of-mouth among the MZ generation, leading to ten production cycles solely from online orders.

Within just five months of launching, Narka secured placements in both the online and offline stores of Shinsegae’s beauty edit shop, Chicor, across Korea. It also expanded internationally by entering ‘@COSME,’ one of Japan’s top three multi-shops. In March, Narka opened its first offline flagship store in Seochon to enhance customer engagement, offering hands-on product trials, usage tips, and hair styling advice.

Shin Yun-ho, CEO of BASS Investment, who led the investment round, said, “Our investment was driven by our confidence in Choi Da-ye’s expertise in branding and visual directing, qualities we recognized during our initial investment in hince. We are excited about Narka’s potential to become a unique global brand.”

Park Eun-woo, Partner at Mashup Ventures, commented, “We believe strongly in Choi Da-ye’s track record with high-quality cosmetic brands and Uncmhm’s innovative approach, which encouraged us to increase our investment. We are eager to see Narka grow into a leading global hair care brand that represents Asia beyond Korea.”
